At the Eliot Hall, we host a variety of events to bring the community together and support the wider community.

COVID Vaccination Clinics for Quay Lane Surgery Patients
As we move into the winter months, protecting ourselves against COVID-19 remains an important way of reducing the risk of serious illness and helping to keep our community healthy.
For the first time this year patients of Quay Lane Surgery are able to access their covid vaccinations closer to home. Clinics will be held at Eliot Hall in St Germans on the following dates:
- Wednesday 28 October - 9:15am to 4:00pm
- Saturday 7 November - 9:15am to 1:00pm
- Wednesday 25 November - 9:15am to 4:00pm
While these clinics are available to Quay Lane patients, the surgery team are not able to book appointments for you and so we ask that eligible patients book their vaccination appointment through the National Booking System wherever possible. Booking in advance helps the team to plan the number of vaccines required for each clinic, reducing the risk of vaccines running out and helping to ensure that everyone who wishes to be vaccinated can be accommodated.
Who should have the COVID-19 vaccine?
You can get a COVID-19 vaccine if you:
• are aged 75 or over (including those who will be 75 by 31 January 2027)
• are aged 6 months to 74 years and have a weakened immune system because of a health condition or treatment
• live in a care home for older adults
You may be eligible for a COVID-19 vaccine if you have a weakened immune system because of a health condition or treatment. This can include if you:
• have or had blood cancer, such as leukaemia, lymphoma or myeloma
• have had an organ transplant, bone marrow transplant or stem cell transplant
• have HIV
• have a genetic disorder that affects your immune system, such as severe combined immunodeficiency (SCID)
• are having or recently had chemotherapy, biological therapy or radiotherapy
• are taking steroid medicine (depending on the dose)
• are having long-term immunosuppressive treatment for a condition such as lupus, rheumatoid arthritis, inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), scleroderma or psoriasis
While the vaccinating team are happy to accept walk-in patients on the day, booking a timed appointment will help minimise queues, reduce waiting times, and allow the clinics to run as smoothly as possible for everyone attending.
If you are eligible for a COVID vaccination this season, we encourage you to take up the offer and help protect yourself, your family, and the wider community.

Rob Barratt is a Dudley-born comic poet, humourist and singer from North Cornwall. He has previously performed at Port Eliot Litfest and international folk, literature and arts festivals.
Rob's act combines clever word-play with satire, verse, song and audience participation. He covers such important topics as second homes, squid, distressed furniture, data-driven education, Neanderthal politics and his relationship with potatoes, but beneath the humour serious issues lurk.

David is a Cornish actor, founder member of Kneehigh, and a performer of one-man shows working nationally and internationally.
He will take you to Widdershins, a long-forgotten village buried in a dark, wild corner of Cornwall and take you on a tour of a place where mystery lurks about every corner

Join us for a fun evening workshop to create a Christmas foliage wreath for your front door and help support your community village hall.
Wreath base, wire, locally sourced foliage & decorative
ribbon is provided. Please feel free to bring anything else you would like to add to your wreath.
Extra items also available to buy - please bring cash.

Guest Speaker: Sue Minter
St Germans and District Garden Club
Wednesday 19th November 7pm for 7:30pm in the Eliot Hall St Germans
Sue is a semi-retired professional horticulturist and a past president of the Chartered Institute of Horticulture.
Her work in botanic gardens has seen her as supervisor of the Palm House at Kew in the 1980s, curator of the Chelsea Physic Garden in the 1990s and then on to be the horticultural director of the Eden Project.
She has lived in the South West since 2001.
Her topic will be THE HEALING GARDEN.
